- Name: Bioethics Dude
- Location: New Jersey, United States
IRB Administrator in New Jersey & Evening Law Student. Completed a B.A. in philosophy (with a focus on philosophy of science and ethics) and a minor in cognitive sciences at Rutgers University. Have taken a couple of grad. courses in ethics (in re public policy, etc.) and plan on continuing my philosophical studies --time permitting, perhaps more formally.

Note how Judge Whittemore compares (on p.7) this case to the Cruzan case --you can find info on the Cruzan case in my post of

Basically, he draws a distinction between the State's requirement of evidentiary standard in refusing medical treatment versus the Schiavo's argument expressing that the clear and convincig evidence is necessary in order to protect life.
